ISAAC Australia has been acknowledging excellence in AAC for over a decade through the ISAAC Australia Awards.
The awards consist of:
- The Foundation Award – This award is for someone who has shown improvement in the use of AAC in any way at all.
- The School/Organisation Award: This award is for a school or organization that has shown outstanding recognition and acceptance of AAC for someone who learns, works or participates there.
- The Community Award: This award is for someone who actively uses AAC in the community and who contributes to advancing the use and acceptance of AAC in the community.
- The Information Award: This award is for work that raises awareness of AAC. It includes articles, lectures, public appearances, use of social media, radio interviews or public works of art.
Awards are open to anyone in the community, however the person making the nomination must be a current member of ISAAC Australia. ISAAC Awards are not held every year, but are held at the discretion of the executive committee.
If award nominations aren’t made in all categories in a year, ISAAC Australia reserves the right to provide two awards in another category, if appropriate nominations have been received.
Each year in which awards are held, the awardees of the Foundation Award, the Community Award and the Information Award, will each receive a certificate, ISAAC Membership and a $50 Visa card. The winner of the School/Organisation Award will receive a certificate and a book. Plus, for all awardees, the awards provide recognition of all their hard work in making a difference!
